Congrats as OAUSTECH graduates bag first class degree

Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, Vice Chancellor of the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology in Okitipupa, Ondo State, announced that 26 students graduated with honors.

Ologunorisa disclosed this on Monday, March 20, while speaking with journalists about the activities planned for the university’s joint first convocation.

He stated that the 26 first-class graduates were among the 982 students who graduated from the institution between 2014 and 2022 in five sessions.

 

“The highlight of the convocation is the awarding of university first degrees to 982 graduands from five sets – 2014/2015, 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2018/2019, and 2019/2020 session,” Ologunorisa said.

According to the breakdown, 26 graduates received first class, 307 received second class (upper division), 488 received second class (lower division), and 161 received third class.”

 

In response to the number of first-class graduates, he stated that the school had a culture of standard, quality, and hard work, and that each of their students worked hard to earn their grades.

 

He went on to say that many of their graduates were doing well all over the world.

“The university has a very high academic standard. Some of these graduates already have Ph.D.s from prestigious universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, South Africa, and Nigeria.

 

“One of our recent first-class chemistry graduates, Miss Dimehin Adebisi, was admitted to the University of Cincinnati, USA, for a Ph.D in chemical engineering without first completing a Master’s degree program.”

 

The vice chancellor also stated that, despite various challenges, the university was still thriving and working to transition the varsity from a teaching university to a research university by signing Memoranda of Understanding with many universities around the world.
