The governor spoke at an interactive session with public workers at the local government level on Monday at the Adeyemi Bayero Auditorium under the Alausa Secretariat, in Ikeja.

The news comes a few days before the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.

“I as governor have vowed to boost, no matter how tiny, the wage of the public servants,” he stated.

“The market where the Alausa workers shop, that’s where you shop too. Your children attend the same school, you pay the same fare and all of us are from Lagos.

“I have informed them and I have pushed them and we are trying to see how we modify such that one is not greater than the other so that we don’t disenfranchise anyone. You are all my people, my workers, you are all my citizens and I need to take care of you.

“And by God’s grace, as I mentioned before, we are trying to see if we can work this issue out by the end of this month.

“No matter how tiny it is, we will top it.”

The governor stated the decision was taken because the employees are worthy of it.

“And it is not because we are trying toarm-twistt you but we know that you are worthy of it, that’s the essence,” Mr Sanwo-olu remarked.

He noted that the development is in light of the economic realities in the nation and the cost of living in the state.

He stated that as a “proactive” and “sensitive” administration, there is no need to wait for a national authority to “tell us what we know that is right.”
