Bauchi: See details of how Police gun down two kidnappers, rescue victim

The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two kidnappers and rescued a victim in the state’s Ningi Local Government Area.

SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, stated in a statement on Sunday, February 5, 2023, that one AK47 rifle was recovered after the gun battle with the kidnappers.

“In its unwavering commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property in the state, the Bauchi State Police Command has neutralized two kidnappers who attempted to kidnap the victim,” the statement said.

“On March 3, 2023, credible intelligence revealed to the command that on the same date at approximately 0100hrs, some unknown gunmen invaded the residence of Alhaji Abdulhamid Muhammad at Rafin Cora village via Ningi LGA.”

“However, the victim resisted being taken away by the kidnappers. While attempting to flee, the victim was shot multiple times in the lower abdomen.

“On receipt of the information, the police operatives jointly with a local vigilante group led by DPO ningi swiftly mobilized to the scene to counter the kidnappers from accomplishing their mission in the village. The kidnappers greeted police officers with sporadic gunfire.

“While responding, the Operatives engaged them in a gun duel, forcing them to flee in disarray with possible gunshot wounds. As a result, two of the kidnappers met their demise on the spot, and one AK47 was recovered during the encounter.

“The victim was rescued and immediately transported to the federal medical center birnin kudu for treatment.

“Furthermore, concerted efforts have been intensified in an attempt to track them down and apprehend the fleeing suspects, who will face the full wrath of the law.”
