The United States of America has congratulated APC presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory in the 2023 election.
On March 1, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the February 25 presidential elections, defeating main opposition candidates Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the LP.

Ned Price, a spokesman for the US Department, issued the following statement:

“The United States congratulates Nigeria’s people, President-elect Tinubu, and all political leaders.”
“This competitive election marks the beginning of a new era in Nigerian politics and democracy.”
Price also acknowledged that some Nigerians were dissatisfied with the results.
“We understand that many Nigerians and some of the parties have expressed dissatisfaction with the way the process was carried out,” he said.

“Nigerians have every right to be concerned, and they should have high expectations for their electoral process.”
“At this critical juncture, we urge all parties to refrain from violence or inflammatory rhetoric,” Price added.
