According to the reports, the woman’s husband, Malam Bello Fancy, stated that the doctors did not attend to his wife for more than three hours due to a delay in the bank transfer.
Recall that the Kano State Government warned marketers, supermarkets, and the general public against accepting old naira notes in the state, threatening to shut down and revoke the license of any business found doing so.
However, residents reported that some institutions, including government-owned filling stations and marketers, as well as hospitals dealing with emergencies, have rejected the old notes.
Malam Fancy told Freedom Radio that he took his wife to the hospital when she was about to give birth, but the hospital refused his old naira notes and also did not have a POS, so they asked him to deposit the money in their account.
He claimed that despite the fact that he transferred the funds and was debited, the doctors on duty did not touch his wife because they said they needed to see the alert in their account, which took nearly three hours.
“My wife walked into the hospital from our house, but before they received the alert, the pains had doubled and she was already bl€€ding. Nonetheless, they did not touch her until three hours later, when they received the alert.
“After admitting her, they discovered that she couldn’t give birth on her own and that she needed an operation. I agreed and paid the money via wire transfer. It also took three hours longer for them to receive the alert and operate on my wife. Surprisingly, the baby was brought out d€ad, and the mother was also d!ed.”
