A 29-year-old mother of two and her lover have been arrested and charged in South Africa for allegedly orchestrating the murder of her husband, Bradley Singh.

Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala, the provincial SAPS spokesperson, said in a statement on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, that detectives arrested the accused, Lauretta Somone Ramrathan, and her lover, Zale Wendel Leo Brock,37, on February 24 after an intensive investigation.

The pair appeared in Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court on 27 February 2023 and were remanded in custody until Thursday, 2 March 2023, in order to obtain sworn affidavits.

Bradley Singh’s body was discovered in November last year in a pathway along 27th Avenue in Umhlathuzana, Chatsworth. The 38-year-old had multiple stab wounds all over his body, according to police.

According to a Bayview SAPS spokesperson, detectives worked around the clock to make the arrests.

“On the morning of November 21, 2022, his lifeless body was discovered on a pathway on 27th Avenue in Umhlathuzana, Chatsworth. The victim was stabbed multiple times on the body. The motive appeared to be robbery at the time of the incident, as the deceased’s cellphone and bag were nowhere to be found. “As the investigation progressed, it became clear that the victim’s wife and her boyfriend were both involved in the murder,” according to the statement.

“On February 24, 2023, detectives arrested Loretha Somone Ramrathan (29) and Zace Wendell Leo Brock (37) after an extensive investigation. On February 27, 2023, the pair appeared in Chatsworth Magistrates Court. They were held in custody.

Lieutenant Colonel RP Pillay, station commander of SAPS Bayview, praised the team for their hard work and excellent detective skills in apprehending the perpetrators.

Singh, a father of two, was a lifelong Liverpool fan who also enjoyed playing football. He worked at Hopewell Footwear and was described by his family as a happy-go-lucky person who was extremely caring and quiet by nature and enjoyed watching football matches.

Rooksanah Dawood, the deceased’s sister, was in court for the first appearance of her brother’s alleged killers and expressed her desire for justice to prevail.

“My brother was a wonderful person and an incredible father to both of his children. His children were deprived of their father. We want the accused to receive the punishment they deserve.
