An 11-year-old judo champion was burned alive after being ‘doused in petrol’ and imprisoned in a hut set on fire by ‘envious’ bigger youths.

Albert Umbetyarov was locked in a shed in the woods in Moscow’s Dubovaya Roschcha district after an argument on Friday, May 19, according to Russian investigators.

According to a witness, the attackers ‘used bats to knock him practically unconscious’ before ‘dousing him in fuel’ and putting him in a shed that they set fire to.

The attackers were apparently aged 13 to 15, and the horrific scenario was captured on camera by a group of females who allegedly uploaded and streamed the clip online.

Another witness claimed Albert was attacked “out of envy” because he was a successful Judo athlete who “did better than them.”

After the attack, a local informed the reporters, “there was a fight… one of the younger children who witnessed it said that the victim was beaten at his knees so he couldn’t run, or even walk.”

As the bigger youngsters attacked Albert, one of the lads in the group fled.

Younger youngsters, ages six and seven, were alleged to have fled to adults for assistance.

One of his friends’ father reported his son had left the scene before the horror and subsequently returned to find Albert had been burned to death.

‘At 7 p.m., he called me in tears,’ recalled Alexey, the father. ‘My friend burned to death in the shed,’ he said. I visited there. I noticed the flames. There was no one to save at the moment.’

Men had arrived with shovels to try to get through the fire to save the youngster, but it was too late.

Alexander Tvanba, the boy’s judo coach, described Albert as “smart and very peaceful; he wouldn’t offend a fly.” He was a good worker who never had any problems. He won a number of competitions.’

He claimed Albert would have been unconscious, but that if he had been awake, he would have been able to push his way out.

‘On May 19, 2023, youngsters after a disagreement shut a boy inside a shed, closed the shed from the outside, and nailed the door,’ according to the Russian Investigative Committee.

‘Then a fire broke out. [The fire] started inside the shed, according to preliminary investigations. The children were unable to open the door and requested assistance.

‘The boy’s body was discovered inside the burnt shack when rescue came.’
The committee’s head, Alexander Bastrykin, stated earlier this month that Russia is experiencing a “general increase in crime.”

‘We detect a pattern when major, especially grave, offences are perpetrated by youngsters.’

He also mentioned a ‘growing tendency of extremist crimes committed by young people,’ with a’sharp increase’ in 2022 and 2023 ‘after the start of the special military operation’ in Ukraine.
